Moving your hosting in four steps

You do not have to configure anything or switch anything off. You give us the address of your site, we do the rest.

You request the migration

You fill in a short form and give us the address of your site. You do not have to open an account first and you do not need any technical knowledge.

We pick the plan and the time

Our engineers look at your current site, choose the right plan and agree a convenient slot with you, usually an evening one for shops.

We migrate and test

We copy the files, the database and all of your e-mail (over IMAP Sync, folder structure included) to a temporary server, then we check that everything works exactly as before.

We switch you over

We change the DNS only once you have approved the copy. Your old site keeps running to the very end. For a shop we turn on maintenance mode for a moment, usually up to 15 minutes, so the newest orders come across and none of them is lost.

Will I lose any data during the migration?

No. We make a full 1:1 copy: the files, the database and the e-mail together with its folder structure. Your original site stays untouched at your current provider until the very end.

Will my site go offline?

A normal company site or blog stays online for the whole migration. We copy it to a temporary environment and change the DNS only after you approve it, so your visitors notice nothing.

A shop is different. Here we need a short technical pause, usually up to 15 minutes: we turn on maintenance mode, transfer the orders placed since the copy was made, and only then switch the traffic across. That way no order is left behind on the old server. We agree the slot with you, most often in the evening or at night.

How long does the whole migration take?

The migration itself usually takes about an hour, and the whole process from your request to the switch is finished within 24 to 48 hours. We agree the slot individually and move shops and high traffic sites in the evening, to keep the impact on their users as small as possible.

Is the migration really free?

Yes. Moving your site and your e-mail is included in every JDM hosting plan. We charge nothing extra for it, and the price you see when you buy is the same price you pay on renewal.

Do I need any technical knowledge?

No. All you do is give us access to your current hosting. Our team takes care of the technical part and keeps you informed at every stage.

What if something goes wrong?

Your old site keeps running at your current provider to the very end, so we can go back to it without any risk. Before the switch you check the copy on the temporary server yourself, and only then do you give us the green light.

Do I have to transfer my domain?

No, a domain transfer is not necessary. It is enough to point the domain at our DNS servers. You can leave it with your current registrar or move it to us whenever you want.

I want to move several sites at once

Of course, we migrate any number of sites within a single plan. Get in touch and we will plan the schedule for moving all of your domains.

How do I cancel my previous provider?

You simply send your current host an e-mail with your notice. Most companies accept a notice submitted before the end of the billing period. We are happy to help you write it.
