Premium handles many times more parallel PHP requests, so a campaign or a traffic spike does not stop orders.

Not every site needs Premium. Here is where both lines behave the same, and where Premium clearly wins.
This is how most visits are served. Both our lines behave identically here, so a blog or a company website does not need Premium.
The cart, the checkout, filters and the customer account are always generated by PHP. The bigger the shop, the more you feel it.
That is how many PHP requests the site handles at the same moment. Above that number, the next visitors wait in a queue.
In short: as long as content comes from cache, both lines are equally fast. Premium wins where the page has to be generated from scratch and where many people do it at the same time. Large shops whose uncached pages take about 2 s to generate come down to 0.4-0.6 s on Premium. See Premium Hosting →
The WordPress Hosting line is fast: the same infrastructure as Premium, NVMe, NGINX and Redis, TTFB around 89 ms for cached content, and a typical uncached page answering in about 0.6 s. Premium still has a real edge everywhere PHP has to generate the page, because its environment is tuned for the maximum speed of a single site, so the same code runs faster even with the same number of vCPU. On top of that the 3 vCPU limit is lifted and there are more PHP workers. On a typical blog, a company website or a small shop you will hardly notice the difference. On large, dynamic sites it is obvious.
When you run a large WooCommerce shop, an LMS, a portal or a high traffic site where many pages, the cart, the checkout, the customer account and the search, have to be generated by PHP on the fly. On Premium a whole server works for that one site, with more PHP workers and an environment tuned for maximum speed. In our tests a heavy site went from about 2 seconds down to 0.4-0.6 s.
